Youth

Youth Sunday School

The High School youth meet every Sunday for fellowship and a variety of activities which may include: Bible study, interfaith exploration,  ethical discussions, ongoing service activities, and sharing music. Our Sunday school time is both our youth group time and our study time. Through the year, we have 4th Saturday fellowship, retreats, mission trips and service projects because we love to spend time together and our hectic schedules allow sleepovers more easily than a mid-week youth group meeting. The class meets in Room 103 on the Lower Level.

Confirmation

Confirmation begins in the Fall of every other year for 7th grade youth and above. In alternate years, we offer a fall Sunday morning program called, Our Whole Lives - Sexuality Education for 7th to 9th Graders. Confirmation is the time when youth are invited to affirm their baptism, to learn more about the Christian faith and to discern one's call about whether to formally become members of Central UCC. During this process class members will discern and express their own faith beliefs. We will be delving into the questions of what it means to be a Christian, challenging ourselves to articulate our own beliefs, and gaining understanding and perspective of how historic and present day Christians live/d out their faith. The class will also focus on community and justice as it pertains to the mission of the church. It will also explore the various roles of church members, and the meanings of worship. There will be service projects and opportunities to be church together. This class meets in Room 102. The next confirmation class will begin in August 2012.
