Plymouth Harbor, a day program for older adults, meets at Central on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, as a ministry to older adults in our church and community who can benefit from structured activities that provide socialization and stimulation. In addition, the program provides an antidote to the loneliness older adults often experience by offering friendships, opportunities to reminisce and share stories, and to be part of a caring community. Care is provided by staff and many volunteers from Central and the community who give freely of their time and talents. Itʼs truly a place where “everybody knows your name, and everybodyʼs glad you came.” Central began this ministry in 1991, and it has grown and thrived until now,18 years later. Local musicians and storytellers offer their talents as well. For more information, please contact Helen Fredrick ( This email address is being protected from spambots. Interim Director learning the ropes! At the time of this writing Chaplain Dick Baxter, a member of Central, Central’s choir, and former chair of Trustees, is being oriented to the job of Director of Plymouth Harbor. He graduated with an M.Div. from Columbia Theological Seminary after being a church administrator for many years and then spent 10 years as a chaplain at Northside Hospital. Dick served in Vietnam while in the Air Force. Dick is married to Mary, a school teacher; they have two daughters and five grandchildren. Welcome, Dick!!

Current Director prepares leavetaking: At the time of this writing I am looking forward to the upcoming celebrations of my 9 ½ years as Director of Plymouth Harbor! It has been an honor and privilege to serve Central and the participants/caregivers of Plymouth Harbor. I am looking forward to having time to exercise, read, go places I yearn to visit, and spend time with friends. And of course Bob and I will continue to be involved in the life of Central. Plymouth Harbor will always be in my heart, and I leave it in the very capable hands of Dick Baxter along with Jo Hamby and Jan Lane and all the wonderful volunteers!
A reminder: A Caregiver Support Group meets the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month in the Fireplace Room from 10:30 till noon. Led by Sue Kahn, a Licensed Professional Counselor, the group is open to anyone who is a caregiver (church member, Plymouth Harbor family member, or member of the community) and could use the support of a caring, knowledgeable group of people.
We are always grateful for memorial and other generous donations made by church members; these help fund scholarships for those who need assistance to attend Plymouth Harbor. Checks can be made out to Plymouth Harbor and deposited in the offering plate or mailed to the office. Thank you!
