Each June, our 6-12th grade youth participate in the South Georgia Farmworker Health Project in partnership with Emory University’s School of Medicine. You can read more about this important ministry HERE.

Each January, our 6th-12th grade youth participate in the UCC’s Winter Youth Retreat at Blowing Rock Conference Center. MLK Weekend, Jan 12-15, 2018.

Service Projects and Lock Ins

The youth are always excited about service days throughout the year at Atlanta Community Food Bank, Open Hand, the Open Door Community, and many more. We also spend time making hygiene kits for the migrant farm workers in South Georgia in preparation for our annual mission trip in June. At least twice throughout the year, service projects will be combined with an overnight lock-in at the church where a good game of sardines is just about guaranteed.

Our Whole Lives Comprehensive Sexuality Education

Central UCC offers the Our Whole Lives Program which is a series of sexuality education programs for six age groups. For children, we offer classes for K-1st and for grades 4th to 6th graders. For youth, we offer the 7th-9th grade level. Our Whole Lives, together with Sexuality and Our Faith, equips participants with accurate, age-appropriate information in six subject areas: human development, relationships, personal skills, sexual behavior, sexual health, and society and culture. It provides not only facts about anatomy and human development, but helps participants to clarify their values, build interpersonal skills and understand the social, emotional and spiritual aspects of sexuality. The activities are age appropriate, loaded with information, interactive, relevant and often fun. We presently teach these courses in alternate years. Learn more about Our Whole Lives

Youth Confirmation for grades 7-9 is happening every other year. We explore subjects such as history and polity of the UCC, creation, justice, the work and mission of the local church, the history of the Bible, resurrection, and spiritual practices. Along with learning and exploring our faith we also spend time praying for one another and playing games. Confirmation Class is a time to explore what it means to be Christian, to be a church member and to affirm one’s baptism. At the end of the class, in a celebration on Confirmation Sunday, the youth are invited to join the church. We will be teaching confirmation this year (2017-2018). Please email Rev. Lacey ([email protected]) for more info.
