Welcome!

Founded in 1882, Central Congregational is an Open & Affirming, justice and peace-seeking congregation of the United Church of Christ.

We know it isn’t easy to find a new faith community, but we would love to welcome you to Central. Sunday mornings offer something for everyone! For more details about Sundays at Central, click here.

Central strives to be a faith community where all are welcome, regardless of age! You and your children are invited to our Children’s Sunday School, Kids Church, and/or our new Kids Space!

Access and inclusion are part of our building design!

Our main floor and Sanctuary are fully accessible via wheelchair, walker, or other aid, with a drop-off area at the church doors. As you enter the Sanctuary, you will also find enhanced-hearing devices and large print orders of worship. Two Sundays each month, we offer an ASL interpreter.

We also are continuing ways to improve our online/distance worship experience.

First Worship at Central is a contemplative service with communion. As we explore the directions that God is calling us, First Worship is a sort of worship studio where we include new and old elements of worship, varying styles of music, and space for contemplation. All of this takes place in the sunrise setting of our Sanctuary overlooking the woods. Join us on Sundays at 8:45 AM!

“Classic style, contemporary theology” might best describe this worship service, as it features the pipe organ and sanctuary choir in the context of familiar liturgy, but from expanded sources (poetry, various Wisdom traditions, global reflections, etc.). Our hymns come from The New Century Hymnal and Sing! Prayer and Praise, a new resource for music. Two services each month have a sign-interpreter. Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of each month.
