Children on Sundays
CHILDCARE – INFANTS TO SECOND GRADERS
8:30 AM T0 12:15 PM ~ (Rm 201, 202)
PRE-SCHOOL SUNDAY SCHOOL
11:00 AM TO 12:00 PM (Rm 202)
The preschool children can begin in Childcare during the early morning. They will go to Room 202 at 11:00 AM or you may take them to Room 202 any time between 11:00 AM and 12:00 PM. Through storytelling, games, and arts and crafts, the 3 and 4 year old children learn Bible stories and begin to explore ways to be kind to each other and our world.
KINDERGARTEN TO FIRST GRADES – GODLY PLAY
Please bring your child to Room 201 around 10:50am. The Godly Play teachers will bring your child from Room 201 to Room 207.
From 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, K to 1st Grade Class is in Room 207. The teachers will return the children to childcare in Room 201.
The Godly Play program is a sacred time with our children. The time, the activities and the silence flows through the story and reflection, community sharing and prayer, feast and blessing. All the parts of Godly Play make for the whole sacred time. The room is set up so that the children can live visually, verbally and with hands-on connections in the middle of the stories of our faith. The children hear sacred stories of the Old and New Testament, Jesus’ parables, stories about Advent, Christmas, Lent and Easter and stories about the church. After they hear the story, the kids have a chance to wonder about the story in conversation and respond to the story using art. We wrap up our special time together with a community time of sharing, praying and blessing.
At 9:30, Please bring your 2nd to 5th Grade children to childcare in Room 202.
The Godly Play community (Room 208) will be exploring the Old Testament all year. For the older children, they, too, are engaging in a sacred time of story, reflection, sharing, praying and blessing. With all the “liturgy” of our hour together, we hope for the children to gain a sense of the mystery and sacredness of God’s presence in their lives through both challenging and easy times.
